Based on their previous singles, we thought we figured out the sound of Sunday Junkie. After hearing the Worcester band's latest single, we were incorrect. "Sister" still has the post-rock sound and associated noise that first drew us to the band, but "Sister" is much more melodic than we've previously heard from them. At times the song sounds more like jangle pop, and at others it's a much more mainstream version of alt-rock reminiscent of the late 90's. What ties the song to Sunday Junkie's earlier singles is that sense of post-rock, just a little more restrained sounding than we're used to. The change up in sound has us looking forward to hearing their full album once it comes out in May.
