Actors being in bands used to be considered more of a vanity project that could never be considered good. Lately, actors turned musicians Maya Hawke, John C. Riley, Zooey Deschanel, Ed Helms, and others have changed that into another creative outlet for artists. The latest is Harley Quinn Smith (Cruel Summer, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, co-host of the Beardless, Dickless Me podcast) recently released the debut single from her band, cinnamon. "Star" is a raw but poppy slice of alt-rock. It starts off with a bass line that reminds me of that dog, and then evolves into a track with the energy and oomph of Mannequin Pussy but the alt-rock pop sensibilities of Alvvays. It's a powerful track from a new artist that we're looking forward to hearing more from.
