The latest from Aisha Badru is truly hard to define. "Rooted" feels like folk, but musically it's awash in an atmospheric synths. The synths stay in the background the entire time, allowing Badru's vocals to be the true focus of the song. If anything, they seem to be more of a support system for Badru and her vocals more than instruments. They herald Badru along, but never get in her way and are barely noticeable at times. The synths act more like folk guitars or fiddles instead of electronic instruments which gives the song a more natural vibe than most synth heavy songs. "Rooted" is a gorgeous and captivating song that is going to have us watching Badru for a long time.
