Heather Maloney - "Light You Leave Behind"

The upcoming album from Heather Maloney was never meant to be released publicly. It's a deeply personal album that the Northampton singer-songwriter wrote and recorded after the death of her father, some of which was recorded in her childhood home. The latest single, "Light You Leave Behind," is a song about her father's youth spent sneaking into shows at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City. It's a beautiful song with its roots in folk, but with a little more rock to it than we typically hear in Maloney's music. It's a gorgeous and upbeat song that expresses loss while celebrating her father's life.

Heather Maloney says of her new single:

“This song came out of one of the last stories my dad ever told me. He was a Jersey boy with a legitimate twinkle in his eye and a serious mischievous streak. When he was a teenager he’d sneak out of his window - and then - sneak into the nosebleeds at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, where he got to see so many of the classic rock icons of his day. Roosevelt Stadium was torn down the same year I was born, and while he was definitely more tame when he became a dad, the twinkle in his eye never went away.”
