Boston's Viruette are back with a new single that changes the game quite a bit. "DEADTOOTH" still has the upbeat Britpop sound we loved from their previous releases, but this new one grooves shockingly hard. It's heavier than we would have expected, and far more discordant. It's like mixing Britpop with heavy garage rock, and even some hints of British garage. It doesn't quite hit the metal level, but just barely misses. There's even some surprising industrial style noise in the song. "DEADTOOTH" is the type of song you're going to need to listen to at least a few times to make sure you're processing it correctly.
Frontman Harry Bee says of the band's latest single:
"after releasing a record heavy on soul-searching and melancholy, we wanted to swagger and strut on our way back to the ring. DEADTOOTH is a palette cleanser and a portent of music to come, which is more concerned with inhabiting moments than analysing them overhead."
