Zamrock pioneers WITCH (aka We Intend to Cause Havoc) have a new single out that is going to blow some minds. "Nadi" is being called the heaviest song on their upcoming album, and it's certainly the heaviest we've covered of theirs. It's a psychedelic showcase heavy on funk and general groove. There aren't many songs out there you can headbang to and legitimately dance to, but "Nadi" pulls that off. It's along the lines of Parliament/Funkadelic's more rock focused songs, especially since it doesn't loose any of the groove we associate with WITCH. It's also certainly not a 70's throwback. It looks back at WITCH's past while pushing their sound and style forward.
Guest singer Theresa Ng'Ambi says of the band's latest single:
“When I created the lyrics for 'Nadi', I was in the studio in Berlin surrounded by energy of love, and creativity. 'Nadi' came from my heart an emotional need to transform something typically seen as dark, like the concept of “intend to cause havoc” from 'W.I.T.C.H' into something full of love, light and healing. 'Nadi' speaks to the parts of us that are hidden, the love that isn’t always easy, but the love that is real, and the power to transform the past into a brighter future. 'Nadi' is a song for lovers, a rebirth of healing and the courage to be true to what we feel. 'Nadi' is for everyone who’s ever loved against the odds, for those who need to believe in the light within them, no matter the darkness around them. Then I thought, I want to express my love in Tumbuka - one of the sweet, rarely spoken languages from the east of Zambia. Enjoy 'Nadi' my love from Tumbukaland in Zambia.”
