Murder By Death's upcoming farewell album seems like it's actually going to be a true farewell album. The songs have a sense of loss and are obviously a band saying goodbye to their fans and each other. The latest single is called "Lose You," so it obviously keeps the theme going. As melancholy as the song might be, it's also surprisingly uplifting. There's a surprising New Wave-esque sound on the single, and it's going to inspire a live crowd to want to dance, even if they do so sadly. "Lose You" sounds like a song about loss and sadness, but with a sense of joy that it ever happened.
Frontman Adam Turla says of the band's upcoming album:
“The album is basically an elegy. The songs are about goodbyes and the different ways we think about that concept. It’s certainly our most personal collection of songs. It’s probably our saddest and most beautiful album, but it also has moments of real triumph and joy in the darkness.”
You can listen to "Lose You" below. Egg & Dart is due out June 13, and is available to pre-order here. For more on Murder By Death, check out the band's website. Upcoming farewell tour dates are below the song and include a June 27 date at Paradise Rock Club in Boston.
