Soraia - "Body in the Backyard"

Philadelphia garage rockers Soraia are back with a brand new single. "Body in the Backyard" is an absolute ripper of a song. It's driven by a Stooges-style proto-punk guitar riff, filled with that certain kind of fuzz that digs itself deep into your soul. The whole song has a primal style to it and the only reason it sounds modern is that the production is just slightly more slick than it was in the late 60's. Mixing punk and garage rock is one of my favorite musical styles, and few do it as well as Soraia. Just wait until the extremely brief guitar solo kicks in and you'll be just as enraptured as we are.

Lead vocalist ZouZou Mansour says of her band's upcoming EP:

“We had a lot to say on this set of songs. We looked outward at the injustices in the world, but we also looked inward, addressing topics like feeling like, at times, we had to conform as artists. Doing this EP was liberating.”

You can listen to "Body in the Backyard" below. Confessions from the Vena Cava is due out September 12. For more on Soraia, check out the band's website.
