The Fool's Agenda - "Dumb (Take Me Out)"

Hailing from Salem, MA, The Fool's Agenda are a grunge-pop band with an impossibly catchy sound for a band that sounds so DIY. Their latest single, "Dumb (Take Me Out)," has some firm roots in both grunge and riot grrrl, but have too much of a pop sound to truly be considered either of those. This is reminding my of a slightly more polished Cake Like, while having a production that keeps everything just rough enough to not go too pop. It's this play between being a hard rock band and a pop band that keeps The Fool's Agenda's latest interesting. "Dumb (Take Me Out)" has the ability to instantly grab you and make you a fan for life, but it might take you a little bit to adjust to the two sides of their sonic coin. We're going to implore you to give "Dumb (Take Me Out)" a full listen so you don't miss out.

“Rock and roll has never been about being cool or trendy – it’s always been misfits making art to feel seen by one another. Somewhere along the line, it became somewhat of a popularity contest: Who’s got the best content, the coolest outfits; people looking to be adored as a sense of validation through their art rather than looking for a community and to make a difference with it. It’s really easy to fall into that trap when you so badly want to be successful. This song is making fun of that whole mentality.”

Her latest single, "Dumpster Diving," which she describes as a "trashy little tune," is everything we love about the musician. It's a vintage style country song that comes in at a punk like one minute, forty-eight seconds. With a chorus of "Dumpster diving, this ain't gonna last / Dumpster diving, 'cause baby you like trash..." how can you possibly resist. Leigh's latest gives us a decades old sound with modern sensibilities and her fantastic voice that's tailor made for this genre of music. Artist : Rain on Fridays Album : Death to Affection Quick Thoughts : This came out of nowhere and blew my socks off. It's indie alt/punk, sometimes on the screamy side, but the angst and noise comes across so well and in such a great, fun way that I didn't expect. The Beths - "Mother, Pray for Me"

This is a heartbreaking ballad consisting of Elizabeth Stokes' vocals and guitar with just the slightest hint of organ. It's a deeply personal song for Stokes, made obvious with how intimately the song comes across. It truly feels almost confessional, and it's quite simply beautiful. The Beths are most known for huge little indie rock gems perfect for bopping along to, but "Mother, Pray for Me" is quite the opposite. Stokes' vocals and lyrics are right up front on this one, and I can't imagine it any other way. Elizabeth Stokes says of her latest single: “I cried the whole time writing it.
