We've been pretty high on TORRES ever since 2015's Sprinter. Mackenzie Scott has been showing flashes of greatness for the past six years, constantly threatening to explode with every new release. Her upcoming album will be what launches her into theaters. Her latest single, "Hug From a Dinosaur," is brilliant. Besides having one of the greatest song titles in recent memory, it's this fuzzy and grungy pop/rock jam. It's this impossibly bouncy and upbeat pop song, but with enough rock guitar and grunge edge to it to keep even the crustiest rock fan happy. Seriously, making indie rock stalwarts and people that just want to groove and dance happy with the same song is nearly impossible, but TORRES pulls it off with a killer song and her charm.
Mackenzie Scott says of the new song:
“The title emerged from a dream I had. The song’s theme is that truth is eternal, and it’s also about never stopping. To bring it back down to earth, the song’s also about being ready to drop everything to do something essential for someone you love. In this instance, it’s bringing my girlfriend lunch so she can keep painting.”
