Aaron Lee Tasjan continues to surprise with each new single from his upcoming album. "Dylan Shades" has barely any of the alt-country that defined his sound back when we first discovered his music. (In fact, the only alt-country sound might be a little twang in Tasjan's vocals at the beginning of the song.) Instead, this new single is a synth pop power ballad that could have sounded at home on the radio thirty plus years ago. It's a gorgeous and uplifting song that truly lets Tasjan's vocals shine in a way we haven't heard before. After hearing the various singles that have been released so far off of his upcoming album, and the only artist I can think of that has genre hopped this much within one album might be Beck.
Aaron Lee Tasjan says of his upcoming album:
“The record became a sort of rallying cry for being who you are in a time when people literally wanna try to make it illegal to do that. I felt like it was really important to let people know that they’re not alone, that we’re all in this fight together and that we see each other, and that we’re gonna do what this community always does, which is come together and have each other’s backs.”
