Squanderers formed as a duo David Grubbs and producer Kramer for a Kramer box set. They've now added guitarist Wendy Eisenberg and released an album late last year. Their new single/video is something that isn't meant for everyone, but if it works for you, welcome to your new obsession. "Theme for Contrails" is a blend of noise rock and experimental free form jazz. It's five and a half minutes of experimentation that allows the song room to breathe and go where it needs to go. It's noisy without being heavy and elevates noise and feedback into true artforms. If you were a fan of Sonic Youth's SYR album series, "Theme for Contrails" is going to be your type of thing.
You can watch the video for "Theme for Contrails" below. If a Body Meet a Body is out now on Shimmy-Disc. For more on Squanderers, check out Wendy Eisenberg on Instagram, and David Grubbs also on Instagram here.
