Divide and Dissolve is the musical project of composer and multi-instrumentalist Takiaya Reed. Their new album is due out Friday, but we have one last single to check out before then. "Withholding" is an absolutely brutal sludgefest of a song. It's a heavy doom metal track that plods and grinds along for just under three minutes. As noisy and intense as "Withholding" is, it's also oddly beautiful. It's the kind of song that will have you wondering where it will go next. Reed's latest is an intensely powerful song filled with emotions without needing any vocals. Friday can't come fast enough.
Takiaya Reed says of her latest single:
“‘Withholding’ is about a place where change can be perceived. Where it is felt materially spiritually emotionally physically. It is about navigating the dynamics and tensions of push and pull.”
You can watch the video for "Withholding" below. Insatiable is due out April 18 on Bella Union, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Divide and Dissolve, check out the artist's website.
