Before their album is released this Friday, Miki Berenyi Trio have released one final single. "Kinch" is about that happy and sad feeling you get when you see photos of loved ones who have passed away. In Berenyi's case, it's about her father and Chris Acland, Lush's drummer who died in 1996. Musically, the song is equal parts alt-rock (including shoegaze) mixed with a chilled out electronic sound. It almost sounds like a cross between classic shoegaze bands of the 90's with some trip hop elements. It's a beautiful and engaging new song that will suck you in with its more hypnotic sounds.
Miki Berenyi says of her band's latest single:
“The lyrics are inspired by love and loss, and how those people never leave you, and how it makes you think about the nature of love.”
You can watch the video for "Kinch" below. Tripla is due out April 4 on Bella Union, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Miki Berenyi Trio, check out the artist's website. Upcoming tour dates are below the video and include a stop at The Sinclair in Cambridge on October 12.
