Real Beaut - "Politics"

Boston's Real Beaut have a new EP out, and if you love hard and melodic rock music, you're going to want to pay attention to this one. Politics is a collection of four groove heavy, hard rock songs sure to win over new fans very quickly. Plus, Real Beaut are doing something different with Politics. You can't quite put your finger on it, but the songs here have a little something unique to them. As an example, the press release for the EP refers to "Paying Attention" as "... a sort of grunge take on Van Halen." That's a sound you never even considered, but now you need to hear it. That's immediately followed by the oddly slinky "Profane and Pedigree," which sounds like a dirtier Queens of the Stone Age. The EP closes out with "Islands," which is almost like an amped up, hookier At the Drive In. Real Beaut have something great with Politics, and we're thrilled to bring this one to you.

Vocalist Keith Pierce says of the band's new EP:

“Our excitement around releasing Politics is fairly boundless. We have been trying hard to keep this record under wraps. Creating new interesting guitar-driven music in a relatable, communicative way is difficult but Real Beaut is one of the finest rock experiments I’ve ever been a part of. This new EP is very different from some of our earlier productions but we tried to retain the speed and ferocity of our youth through practice, recording, and respect for the listener.”

You can listen to "Paying Attention" below. Politics is out now and is available via Bandcamp. For more on Real Beaut, check out the band on Instagram and Facebook. If you're free tomorrow night (Saturday April 5), they're playing an EP release show at The Middle East Upstairs with American Ethos, Dwelley, and Bad at Drawing.
