Mediocre, the queer Boston based duo that started off in Los Angeles, just released what might be the coolest song of the year. "Together Together" is a chilled out track that reminds me of a weird hybrid of Luscious Jackson and The Moldy Peaches, but in a much more mainstream kind of way. It's a quiet song that could be fully danceable if it was just a wee bit faster, but as it is it just has that unprotected sincerity you got with The Moldy Peaches and the ultra-cool groove of Luscious Jackson. It's a song about having a crush and not being quite sure how to confess or make your move. As Mediocre puts it, it's "... a swan song for the end of the world."
You can watch the video for "Together Together" below. Know You're Screwed is out April 7 on Dangerbird Records. For more on Mediocre, check out the band on Instagram and Twitter. If you're in the Boston area, you can catch them on April 17 at the Silhouette Lounge in Allston.
