Earlier this month we brought you "Portals," the latest single from Jimetta Rose & The Voices of Creation. Today they are back with the title track off their upcoming album, "Things Are Getting Better." The new song is a seven minute epic mixing house, funk, soul, hip hop, and R&B. Despite being slightly over seven minutes, "Things Are Getting Better" never overstays its welcome. Jimetta Rose & The Voices of Creation are masters of blending multiple genres in such a way that the song feels completely fresh while still being familiar. We're not typically the kind of people that are going to bring you music that is described as "spirit-listing" or "soul-stirring," but when a song is as great as this one, we can always make an exception.
Jimetta Rose says of her band's new single:
'You gotta tell it what you need it to be, gotta tell it what you need to see', the song says, and that’s just what we must do. It’s like a pep talk to the self with a melody. Shout outs to Ryan Papa Porter and Danny Janklow for the amazing brass work on this tune.”
You can listen to "Things Are Getting Better" below. Things Are Getting Better is due out July 26 on Day Dreamer, and if available for pre-order through Bandcamp. For more on Jimetta Rose & The Voices of Creation, check out the artist on Instagram and Facebook.
