Ruby Grove - Ripple Effect

Despite summer deciding to wait a little longer before fully welcoming those of us in New England, Ruby Grove have released an EP perfect for the wayward season. Ripple Effect is a six song release that is going to get a lot of play once we can spend time outside again. It starts off with "Ocean Sun," a multi-genre track that encompasses elements of pop, jazz, alt-rock, prog rock, and more. It's a heavenly song that showcases the Boston band unlike anything they've put out so far. Immediately following it is "Lazy River," which is a little less mellow than the title might suggest. Singer Melissa Nilles ups the jazzy side of her vocals and the song has the vibe of trip hop, just more organic and with a firey guitar solo. "Crystal Land" has more of a blues meets synthpop sound. All six songs comprising Ripple Effect are wonderfully laid back and are perfect for any of your summer activities, even if they're more along the lines of gazing out the window at the cold rain with anticipation.

You can listen to Ripple Effect below. The EP is available for purchase via Bandcamp. For more on Ruby Grove, check out the band's website.
