According to the press release, the latest single from Quebec's Alexis Castrogiovanni "... employs genres from classical and folk from trip hop and punk." That sounds like a ridiculous concept, but it completely nails "Someday My Thoughts Will Be Like a Range of Mountains." Despite using traditional folk and classical instruments, there is very little traditional with Castrogiovanni's music. Except when it is. This song is somehow both traditional and experimental, it's calming and intense at the same time. It's beautiful while being discordant to an extreme degree. Some of these sonic changes are like a slap in the face while others are like an embrace. "Someday My Thoughts Will Be Like a Range of Mountains" is going to lead to a die hard following for those of us this works for.
