Candy Coffins - "Seaside Girls"

Our favorite South Carolinian post-punk band Candy Coffins are back with a new single. "Seaside Girls" has a much more summery and upbeat sound than you normally get with post-punk. It also has a much stronger Americana vibe to it. Add in the fact that vocalist Jame Lathren is speak singing throughout most of the song and you get a unique take that sounds more like The Hold Steady or Tom Petty trying out the genre, especially when the piano kicks in. This is just a straight up post-punk rocker, if such a thing can exist.

Jame Lathren says of the new song:

"When the pandemic hit, I decided I would not write a dark song as the first one written during the period. It seemed too easy given the times. It took me three months, but we got 'Seaside Girls' from the effort, which is an upbeat sun-drenched rocker on the new album, 'Once Do It With Feeling'. It’s all the rage."

You can watch the video for "Seaside Girls" below. Once Do it With Feeling is due out October 21. The album can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp. For more on Candy Coffins, check out the band's website.
