Normally, I like my hip hop to be devoid of R&B as much as possible, and to not use autotune. It's just a preference from being middle aged and growing up on late 80's/early 90's hip hop. By all usual standards I should hate the latest song from Boston's Oompa. "Go" is pure R&B with liberal use of autotune and just the sprinklings of hip hop. But... this is Oompa. Oompa radiates a natural charm that is impossible to resist, even if the song wouldn't normally be something you like. "Go" may be R&B, and mostly modern R&B, but it does have a certain 90's flair to it, back when I was a little more (ok, a lot more) open to the genre. Even if you don't think you'd be into it, you owe it to yourself to at least check this song out.
You can watch the video for "Go" below. For more on Oompa, check out the artist on Facebook and Twitter.
