Back in 2020 we brought you Loss Leader, an EP from Brenna Lowrie filled with psychedelic folk songs. Lowrie just released Changing Skies, a two song EP with a pair of early Neil Young covers. The songs the Alberta, Canada based artist chose are "Expecting to Fly" and "The Old Laughing Lady," neither of which would be considered well-known songs of Young's. After hearing Lowrie's versions of these classics, unless you were a die hard fan of Young's, you would never know they were covers of his songs. Lowrie completely reworks these into her psychedelic folk sound with the emphasis on psychedelic. As psychedelic as these versions are, there is enough of a dreamy feel and an almost mainstream sound to be much more accessible than psychedelic folk typically is.
