We first brought you the music of Jon Muq back in September, and the Ugandan born, current Austin, TX resident has just released a new single. "Shake Shake" is exactly what we loved about "Runaway." It's a laid back song right in the middle of the world of mainstream folk, but Muq adds in much more soul and Afropop that you would get from any other mainstream folk artist. Muq took inspiration from Ugandan dances from his upbringing for "Shake Shake" and gives the song just enough of a unique flavor to raise it above the standard folk song.
Jon Muq says of his new single:
“Growing up around over 50 tribes that had different kinds of dances, each tribe focused on a specific part of the body when dancing, and the joy was endless. That moment of joy and happiness will always be yours, as long as you can 'Shake Shake' what you got.”
You can watch the video for "Shake Shake" below. Flying Away was produced by Dan Auerbach and is due out May 31 on Easy Eye Sound, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Jon Muq, check out the artist's website. Upcoming tour dates are below the video.
