Tysk Tysk Task - "Colors"

I've been writing about Lowell, MA's Tysk Tysk Task for a couple of years now. Their "indie grunge" sound has wildly appealed to me, although I know it's not quite for everyone. It can be more than a little abrasive, and most people don't want their noisy indie rock to come with harmonica.

Their new single might change all of that. "Colors" is an absolute epic monster of a song. All of the elements I've come to love from Tysk Tysk Task are still here. It's abrasive, and Samantha Hartsel's vocals still sounds like she's processing some serious shit. And, yes, there's electronic harmonica. But something is just different with "Colors." It's more of a heavy rock song, complete with thundering drums and crunching guitars. Plus, this is the finest example of loud/quiet/loud that has come out in a long, long time. It sounds like too much noise for just three people, but that's usually the best kind of noise. Before I'd understand if someone didn't like Tysk Tysk Task. After "Colors," they're just wrong.

You can listen to "Colors" below. The song is out now via Bandcamp. For more on Tysk Tysk Task, check out the band's Facebook and Instagram.
