Rachel Sumner - "3000 Miles"

Rachel Sumner just does modern folk music in her own way. Her latest single, "3000 Miles," combines progressive folk with a more pop sound than we typically hear, and the result is a song that is both art and quite accessible. Sumner's vocals are just dripping with charm, and you're instantly pulled in as soon as she starts singing. The music (co-written by Dan Bui of Twisted Pine) has that laid back but oddly intense feel to it that has made us look forward to any new release from Sumner. Not many artists can be considered traditional, progressive, and pop, but Sumner keeps finding new ways to combine them all.

Rachel Sumner says of the video for her latest single:

"The pink lawn flamingo finds herself in a lawnless desert-scape, tries to make the most of it, but travels out East where she can become real. I'll leave it to folks to connect the dots and find the parallels :)"

You can watch the video for "3000 Miles" below. Heartless Things is due out May 10, and is available for pre-order through Bandcamp. For more on Rachel Sumner, check out the artist's website.
