Gloom Girl MFG - "Batshitlorette"

Nashville's Gloom Girl MFG just released one of the more unique punk songs of the year. "Batshitlorette" takes on Nashville's country and bachelorette party scenes. It takes the current modern punk sound that adds in a little dance friendly pop and melds it with country punk in a new concoction that is just about perfect. Picture bands like Destroy Boys and Mannequin Pussy jamming with Thelma and The Sleaze and you have "Batshitlorette" down. It's a song that screams ahead at full speed with gang vocals and buzzsaw guitars, and is overflowing with mocking attitude. Plus, the song is called "Batshitlorette," and if that doesn't make you want to listen I don't know what that says about you.

Lead singer Paige McKinnon says of her band's new song:

“‘Batshitlorette’ is a dogfight. Picture the Greasers vs. the Socs, except make it the Nashville Locals vs. the Bachelorettes. In this song, we're at play with the idea of local insularity in contrast with bachelorette party mayhem here in Nashville, Tennessee. It is a song that is both dead serious and absolutely absurd all wrapped up in an epic punk package. On brand with the EP, we can't help but expand our grief and frustration beyond our city walls, and turn it into a bigger declaration: Ignore the future of our youth, and you will pay the consequences.”

You can watch the video for "Batshitlorette" below. Polycrisis is due out May 3, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Gloom Girl MFG, check out the band's website.
